Concluding Reflections: The Human as a Being of Anxiety and the Power of the Human Mind
摘要
This concluding chapter aims to provide an overview of the path taken. Anxiety, in its dimensions of affective fear, felt anxieties, and mental anxiety, is an important human ability. It reveals in a specific way how people perceive themselves and the world, and with what dangers and threats they are confronted. Without this spectrum of functions, ranging from fear to anxiety, humans would be neither capable of survival nor able to adapt to various circumstances, assess future risks, and act with foresight. By way of an outlook, this chapter also seeks to indicate the mental power people possess to shape and transform the contents and manifestations of anxiety, and to develop a positive culture of anxiety. Appropriate techniques, methods, and attitudes can be learned, practiced, and internalized. They offer an opportunity to prevent potential psychological overload and thus contribute to a self-determined life.
