The Tableau Vivant in Heinrich von Kleist’s ‘Der Findling’ as a Nexus of Gender and Knowledge
摘要
Heinrich von Kleist’s 1811 novella ‘Der Findling’ depicts the ways in which not only disease and childbirth but also desire violently dissolve kinship networks and disable individual subjects in an adoptive nuclear family. The novella portrays the pater familias, Piachi’s family as an unstable figure constellation. His first wife died from childbirth and left him with one son, Paolo. Piachi then remarried Elvire.
