In the Tent
摘要
This study will examine ‘Robert Guiskard’ as a metadrama, as both a self-reflexive performance of the inadequacies of mimetic representation, and an attempt to transcend them. Even within the short span of a fragment nearly lacking a plot, Kleist succeeds in directing and re-directing our perception of what occurs on the stage in order to elude the constraints of mimesis and invest the play with the imaginary.
