The dramatic and already early apparent side effects of fluoroquinolones are a prime example of the inadequate—even irresponsible—response of health authorities worldwide, whose duty and mandate should be to protect patients from harm caused by pharmaceutical products. Even the delayed and half-hearted warnings remained practically ineffective, a sign of a glaring systemic failure in healthcare systems.
