Data Assetization Journey: Concepts, Principles, and Illustrations
摘要
In line with “data is the new oil”, this paper presents a journey for a successful transformation of data into assets. The journey consists of 3 stopovers featuring each particular operations to perform. The eligibility stopover ensures that data is “worth” assetizing since not all data can become assets. Next, the enrichment stopover provides extra details about data allowing a better “reasoning” over these data after passing the eligibility check successfully. Finally, the governance stopover develops policies for managing data as an asset in terms of depreciation, transferability, disposability, and convertibility. Policies are specified in the Open Digital Rights Language (ODRL) to express permission, prohibition, and obligation rules that steer the data assetization journey. A system demonstrating the technical doability of this assetization with emphasis on the eligibility stopover is also presented in the paper.
