Orientation: Topic Area PTSD
摘要
People respond to psychological stress—in ways that vary greatly depending on personal-physiological disposition, severity of the trauma, and individual resilience. The high variability of risk factors and symptom manifestations may be one reason why post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) was only included in diagnostic manuals as a clinically significant disorder since the 1980s. It took the extraordinary experiences of war involvement to draw attention to the severe long-term consequences.
