Explicit metaphilosophy refers to metaphilosophical statements, theories, and series of theories that are accompanied by the awareness that they contribute to metaphilosophical debates. The metaphilosophical discourse formations concern three levels: individual metaphilosophical questions (for example, the question of whether the concept of philosophical progress must be abandoned (Shan in Metaphilosophy 53:176–184, 2022)), systematic metaphilosophy (for example, from an analytic (Williamson) or pragmatic-contextualist (Rescher) perspective), and meta-metaphilosophy (for example, from a phenomenological perspective (Fraisopi)). The perspectivist critique will show, using selected examples, that it does not satisfy the generality of the concept of philosophy and metaphilosophy, but that it can nevertheless be regarded as a valid contribution to metaphilosophical debates.

摘要
