Media Aesthetics of the Mimetic Arts: Laocoön
摘要
On June 8, 1768, the renowned antiquarian Johann Joachim Winckelmann is murdered in Rome. This news and the circumstances surrounding his death stir up public emotions. Lessing is deeply affected – he writes to his friend Nicolai that he would “gladly have given a few years of my life” to Winckelmann (Jul 5, 1768; B 11/1, 526–27).
