Schlangenwindungen der Vernunft. Kant über Irrtum und Selbstlüge
摘要
The phenomenon of error plays a central role in Kant’s philosophy. It is important not only in a theoretical sense, when it comes to false judgements, but also in a moral sense, when it comes to self-deception that leads us to believe that we are exempt from the moral law. In both cases, it is crucial that the error is a violation of both normative laws of thought and action that can be attributed to the individual subject. Therefore, Kant understands the human subject as autonomous not only in moral action, but also in theoretical knowledge. However, this implies an epistemic duty not to leave other people in their error, but to lead them to self-knowledge in a maieutic way. According to Kant, we have not only a moral dignity, but also an epistemic dignity.
