Otfried Preußler’s children’s book Die kleine Hexe (The Little Witch) continues to evoke a wide variety of film and, above all, radio play adaptations. In the adaptations from between 1961 and 2021 examined here, very different representations of the relationship of the ‘good’ little witch to the ‘evil’ world of witches can be found. These representations are at least partly influenced by the respective Zeitgeist, as can be seen especially in the vocal (possibly visual) design of the witch figures and in the textual additions and modifications.

摘要

Otfried Preußler’s children’s book Die kleine Hexe (The Little Witch) continues to evoke a wide variety of film and, above all, radio play adaptations. In the adaptations from between 1961 and 2021 examined here, very different representations of the relationship of the ‘good’ little witch to the ‘evil’ world of witches can be found. These representations are at least partly influenced by the respective Zeitgeist, as can be seen especially in the vocal (possibly visual) design of the witch figures and in the textual additions and modifications.
