In Krabat (1971) Otfried Preußler focuses on a 14-year-old orphan who is lured to a mysterious black mill by three recurrent dreams. He then spends three years there, during which time he ages by five years, because the first mill year equals three ordinary years. Preußler combines mythological and fairy-tale with biblical-religious motifs, all of which has been examined numerous times from a literary studies perspective. However, the aesthetics and function of the dreams, dreaming, and dream-givers, which Preußler inscribes in his version of the saga, has hardly been considered in detail. In this article, these aspects will be analysed from a phenomenological, discourse-analytical perspective, in order to take a first step towards filling this research gap and encouraging further study.

摘要
