AI is a new phenomenon. It arouses fantasies, dreams among its proponents, fears among its opponents. AI is supposed to be capable of much more than humans. However, to make reasonable decisions, it would need a self, some form of consciousness. But that is not supposed to be the goal, as it carries significant risks. It is supposed to become the smartest animal and yet remain a beast of burden. For logical reasons, this is not possible, a contradiction. One of the unsolvable problems of the sciences. Self-awareness, autonomy, and morality have nothing to do with impartial calculation.
