This chapter serves as a framework for the following chapters, which deal with integration techniques for enterprise information systems in a system landscape at all levels of our modeling view: the integration through data exchange at the level of business data; the integration via the user interface and the integration via the application logic using function calls, both at the level of business objects; and finally the integration using process management systems at the level of business processes.
