Under the title “Diversity and Unity of the Enlightenment,” I have already mentioned the new sciences that emerged in various European countries over the course of the eighteenth century. In the discussion of the critique of religion, I was able to demonstrate how these scientific disciplines were employed: anthropology, philosophy of language, sociology, history. Now follow systematic investigations of these fields, each of which is addressed in a separate chapter.
