The laparo-endoscopic techniques of inguinal hernia repair TAPP and TEP have become established in different countries around the world at different speeds and to varying degrees for different reasons. Initially, the critical resistance to the non-absorbable material that had become obligatory was not entirely unfounded. Thanks to the pioneering work of René Stoppa, growing surgical experience, improvements in mesh technology, the use of larger and lighter meshes and the increasing abandonment of penetrating mesh fixation, minimally invasive techniques have been able to demonstrate the advantages of clinical and quality of life outcomes. The learning curve and the guarantee of execution precision remain at the center of the discussion. Robotic-assisted inguinal hernia repair (r-TAPP) has triggered a real shift in opinion. This short report is an incomplete analysis.
