Problem-Solving Procedures
摘要
This chapter introduces the problem-solving procedures. First, the notion of problem-solving procedure is explained. Then, three dimensions of problem-solving procedures are introduced. It is followed by the distinction of four types of problem-solving procedures: general heuristic problem-solving procedures, specific heuristic problem-solving procedures, general analytic problem-solving procedures, and specific analytic problem-solving procedures. Then follows a comparison of heuristic and analytic procedures. Afterwards, to get a better understanding of the different types of problem-solving procedures, three examples are presented: A strategy planning process, the linear programming, and the Harris-Wilson model for determining the optimal order quantity. The chapter concludes with connecting the development of problem-solving procedures with management science.
