In this chapter, the second step of the analysis, the interaction between de-vice affordances and contextual factors like synchronicity and size of audi-ence are explored, using the small corpus. Before coming to the analysis, the participants whose messages comprise the small corpus are introduced more thoroughly (Sect. 6.2), concentrating on their use of the two platforms (Twit-ter, Discord) and device types (computer, phone). The analysis consists of both a quantitative and qualitative component; rather than re-examining eve-ry feature from Chap. 5, it narrows the scope to three features: message length (Sect. 6.3), emoji (Sect. 6.4), and first letter capitalisation (Sect. 6.5). The chapter concludes with a summary and discussion of the results in Sect. 6.6.
