Using the luminosity-redshift relation derived in the last chapter, two groups studied distant supernovae in the 1990s. One was the Supernova Cosmology Project group (Homepage of the Supernova Cosmology Project: http://supernova.lbl.gov ), and the other the High-z Supernova Search Team (Homepage of the High-z Supernova Search Team: https://www.cfa.harvard.edu/supernova/HighZ.html ). Their observational results provided strong evidence for the fact that we live in a universe that is expanding at an accelerated rate. In this chapter, we want to understand these fascinating discoveries, and the observational methods that led to this result.

摘要
