It attempts to understand how the universe has developed into the state we observe today, and what its future evolution will look like. As an introduction to cosmology, we discuss Olbers’ paradox, which deals with the question of why it is dark at night. We also discuss Edwin Hubble’s groundbreaking discoveries on the expansion of the universe.
