This technology is investigated with the target to improve the comfort of autonomously driving vehicles during quick lane changes on highways. First, an evaluation index of passengers’ discomfort during changing lanes was created which is the roll moment loaded to passengers, and also the rate of change. Based on this evaluation index, a vehicle posture control system is developed that is effective in reducing passenger discomfort. As a result, by controlling the vehicle to a reverse roll posture without delay in response to lateral acceleration, the comfort of the passengers during quick lane changes can be improved.
