Youth
摘要
We examine the profound conflicts that can resurface during adolescence. Even during this time, when the adult personality begins to develop, when deep upheavals occur and previously held certainties about life are tested in disconcerting ways, it is always also about connecting to groups. The peer group as a “second family” can help cushion the gradual separation from the parental home and family of origin. Some seem torn between the desires for the continuation of being cared for as a child and the desire for breakout and conquering the world. Some can only endure this by occasionally escaping into dream worlds and numbing themselves.
