Living Literature: Recent Refigurations of Visceral Reading Experiences
摘要
Across eras and around the globe, the Victorian novel continues to enchant booklovers from the nineteenth century to the present day. My chapter 7 is dedicated to the refigurational impact of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Villette, The Portrait of a Lady, and Tess of the d’Urbervilles in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Today’s audiences can enjoy audiovisual, physical, and virtual experiences with viscerality inspired by nineteenth-century fiction via museum exhibitions, movie adaptations, television series, and interactive online communities.
