Interlaminar Stresses in Curved Laminates
摘要
In this chapter, we investigate the occurrence of interlaminar stresses in curved laminates. This is a phenomenon that is of great practical relevance, as stresses in the thickness direction of a laminate generally face very weak strength properties. The associated failure mode due to delamination is often referred to as ‘unfolding’. After a brief motivation of this problem, we will investigate the closed-form analytical two-dimensional treatment of this problem area by means of a disk analysis. Finally, a three-dimensional analysis method is presented, which is based on a layerwise approach and is also able to suitably treat the free-edge effect.
