In the early afternoon, we were called to a pediatric emergency with respiratory distress by a physician-staffed emergency medical service (EMS) unit. The location of the incident was in a small town with a local hospital without pediatrics; the flight time was 11 minutes. The ambulance and the physician-staffed EMS unit had already driven to a soccer field near the incident site, thus a landing in the immediate vicinity of the patient was possible.
