Trauma and Time
摘要
Rural area, a Sunday afternoon, the sun is shining, blue sky. On this day, many excursionists are out and about. An older couple, due to the low sun, overlooked a motorcycle while turning onto a main road; a collision occurred at the front of the car. The emergency call to the emergency medical service (EMS) dispatch center was “Traffic accident, motorcyclist with pillion passenger against car, at least 2 injured, one of them unresponsive.” The responsible EMS dispatch center alerts two ambulances and a ground physician-staffed EMS unit; the first ambulance arrives at the scene 9 minutes after the alert. The scene seems manageable. The two occupants of the car seemed to be uninjured and were still sitting in the car. The motorcycle was about 20 meters further in the ditch.
