TikTok is playing an increasingly important role in the representation and discussion of history. After initial scepticism, attention is now slowly turning to the question of how historical knowledge is collaboratively communicated and negotiated on the platform. Based on ethnographic approaches, this paper analyses the technical, medial, aesthetic, narrative and discursive specifics of the platform and their influence on historical representations. Based on the concept of Doing History, it shows how history is produced on TikTok in a performative, multimodal and memetic way and how normative and canonical boundaries are tested, challenged and scrutinised. The analysis shows the diverse negotiation and adaptation processes in which creators as well as researchers are involved in dealing with platform operators and infrastructures.

摘要
