Information technology as a corporate function plays a key role in digital transformation. This organization is not only required as an advisor and supporter of all departments during the transition, but must also provide and then operate the existing technical IT environment in a cost-efficient and secure manner, as well as comprehensively develop itself. This challenge requires a “two speed IT”, which implements a holistic IT strategy based on the digitization roadmap as a working basis. Existing application and infrastructure environments must be operated securely and simultaneously consolidated, modernized and realigned in an agile approach. This must achieve savings that are then used to build the “new 2.0 world” with hybrid cloud architectures, software defined environments, container-based microservices, S/4HANA, AI-based automation and also app stores, which then deliver the required services flexibly and with high performance. In this transformation, the issue of security is of great importance, not only in business IT, but also in factory and vehicle IT.
