The paper tries to answer the question whether this part of the training material supports finding a precise problem definition. The selected question schemes and workflow examples suggest that the training is still very useful to deal with problems in a creative way. Especially moving from the desired result to inputs, circumstances and side effects together with moving from the system border to the inside of the system helps to structure the first approach to a problem situation. This facilitates identifying defects, i.e., information short-comings and getting over various bias. Furthermore, the diagrams support the planning of a solving process by showing various influencing aspects which should be taken into account and also assist TRIZ analysis like resource and process analysis.
