Modified Seldinger Technique and Microsurgical Procedures for Port and Hickman Implantation
摘要
A major challenge for every surgeon is the considerable anatomical variation of veins encountered during port implantation, which present with a wide range of calibers. The ideally large-caliber cephalic vein, which allows for straightforward placement of the port catheter via venous cutdown, is not always available in the desired size. Especially in cases of repeat procedures and revisions, additional techniques are required to ensure safe and competent patient care. The modified Seldinger technique is one such method, offering options and solutions for port implantation in nearly all situations.
