Venous Section and Puncture in the Groin Area
摘要
The method of inserting ports or Hickman catheters via the groin is an exception and alternative technique that we have practiced at the Heidelberg Port Center for over 10 years. One of the most important aspects is maintaining hygiene in the postoperative care of ports and Hickman catheters. The groin is an area that may be contaminated with an increased colonization of microorganisms from the genital and anal regions. This raises various questions regarding how the placement of these catheters in this region can be performed safely and without an increased risk of infection. Ports implanted via the groin can also remain in the body for years.
