Following the systematics of DIN 8590 in this work, manufacturing processes are classified in the categories thermal removal, chemical removal and electrochemical removal. The focus is on electrical discharge machining, electrochemical machining and laser machining. Mechanical removal principles dominate in waterjet cutting. However, due to the jet character, there are fundamental similarities to other jet processes, so that these processes are dealt with in a separate chapter. Electroplating does not belong to removal processes, but to the building-up manufacturing processes. As selected aspects of electroplating are essential for coatings on EDM wires and electroplated grinding wheels, the basics and applications from this field have also been included in this work. The volume concludes with an overarching consideration of technology comparisons and process combinations as well as process signatures.

摘要
