How to design a representative tire abrasion rate on-vehicle test method
摘要
To regulate tire wear in terms of abrasion rate (mg/km/ton), an endconsumer representative and reproducible test method is required. A suitable descriptor for driving conditions concerning tire wear are the experienced accelerations. To determine representative accelerations for typical usage, over 3500 vehicles in Europe have been monitored. For reproducibility reasons especially the overall traffic flow on chosen routes on public roads have to be considered. Parameters for route layout in general should be universal so that multiple routes at different locations could be set up. Test conditions are defined in terms of ambient temperatures, driving style, vehicle settings, reference tire and measuring intervals.
