Male dragonflies are not always forced to chase and catch females. In species with coloured wings, like the Demoiselles, they can dispense with aggressive threatening and conquest battles and use displays of their coloured wings to perform courtship flights in front of the females. Then a female chooses a male quite peacefully (from left to right).
