Female Defence Against Males

Dragonfly females are often exposed to the persistent advances of males – they will actively defend themselves against this. Here, three males have attached themselves to a female of the Ruby Whiteface (Leucorrhinia rubicunda) – all without success. This quartet dissolved again without having accomplished anything.
