摘要

In most dragonflies, the males are strikingly coloured, while females often look camouflaged or cryptically coloured. The colours we see can be formed by pigments or as a result of light refraction on the surface (structural colours). Some dragonflies like this Downy Emerald (Cordulia aenea), have both pigments and structural colours, the ratio of which is not yet fully understood.
