The piezoelectric transducers operating in a contact mode and the air-coupled ultrasound transducers are used for ultrasonic methods applications on small clear wood specimens for elastic constants determination and on planks of real size for quality control. Characterization of the sound field generated by a transducer is a prerequisite to understanding the observed signals propagating into materials.
