The German Historical School

  • Volker Caspari

摘要

The German historical school of economics, which is divided into the older and younger schools, belongs to historicism. This tradition has an interdisciplinary character and is deeply rooted in European intellectual history. While Nietzsche viewed historicism as obsolete, Troeltsch and the historian Meinecke celebrated it as a great achievement of Western thought. Since Popper's polemic “The Misery of Historicism” directed against Marxism, the term “historicism” took on a negative tone.
