From an early age, we learn about reality through the formation of models - building blocks, dolls, model trains - because reality is usually inaccessible, too large, too complex, or too dangerous. Every model is thus also a thinking aid, asserting the existence of “idealized structures” that describe but do not fully reflect reality.
