In this chapter, we deal with the vibrations of linear oscillators with one degree of freedom. First, we deal with the free undamped vibration of single-mass oscillators and, in addition to the determination of the vibration differential equation and natural frequencies, the calculation of effective spring stiffnesses of vibrating systems is dealt with. These considerations are followed by the treatment of the free damped vibration of single-mass oscillators, whereby we have to distinguish between different cases of damping. This chapter concludes with the consideration of forced undamped and damped vibrations.
