Congenital Heart Disease in Adulthood
摘要
Adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) represent a constantly growing patient group that is becoming increasingly relevant. Patient care requires special knowledge about modern diagnostic and treatment options as well as about residual and sequelae after previous interventions. Treatment options include interventional and surgical procedures as well as drug therapy approaches. In addition, ACHD require preventive or health-promoting measures as well as advice on cardiac and noncardiac comorbidities or on family and career planning. Since ACHD are chronically heart sick, it is important to offer optimal structured follow-up care through close cooperation between caregivers, general practitioners, internal cardiologists, and ACHD-specialized specialists. Last but not least, adequate knowledge about congenital heart disease and ACHD is increasingly important, as they are part of the general cardiological training.
