Due to its robustness, the stirred tank reactor is most commonly used in industry. For certain applications, particularly in high-pressure technology or for highly exothermic reactions, tubular reactors are a very good alternative. Compared to straight tubular reactors, the radial heat and mass transfer in coiled tube reactors is significantly intensified without the need to actively add additional energy. This chapter explains the characteristics of coiled tube reactors in more detail and compares them to conventional tubular reactors.

摘要

Due to its robustness, the stirred tank reactor is most commonly used in industry. For certain applications, particularly in high-pressure technology or for highly exothermic reactions, tubular reactors are a very good alternative. Compared to straight tubular reactors, the radial heat and mass transfer in coiled tube reactors is significantly intensified without the need to actively add additional energy. This chapter explains the characteristics of coiled tube reactors in more detail and compares them to conventional tubular reactors.
