The use of microorganisms, isolated enzymes, or whole cells in biotechnological processes places special demands on reaction technology. Particular attention is paid to the choice of the right stirring and gassing technique. In addition, sterile work is often indispensable. This chapter examines these aspects in more detail. In addition, there is a digression to photo and microbioreactors as more specific representatives of this group. Finally, the importance of biochemical reactors for the industry is shown, among other things, using the example of the Frings Acetator.
