This contribution aims to address the question of how Juli Zeh, especially in Adler und Engel, narrates Europe. In this regard, the prevailing European concepts in the novel will be worked out and placed in a common context. To this end, theories will be used, which will be discussed in more detail at the appropriate place. Particularly within the framework of the law and literature movement, the elaboration of the understanding of Europe in the novel represents a defining element, on which further literature-legal analyses can be based. Juli Zeh, as a fully qualified lawyer, bestselling author and representative of the German literature and law movement of the twenty-first century, is of particular interest in this regard. This analysis allows central tendencies for the movement in Germany to be worked out as an example. For this reason, this contribution will be rounded off with a comparison to the author’s later works—especially to Unterleuten and Über Menschen. This work represents a step towards closing a research gap.
