By now, it is almost universally understood that it is a crime against the environment to dispose of used oil in the forest or by the riverside. However, when it comes to disposing of our plastic waste in nature, our conscience is still not sufficiently troubled, even though this is an equally significant crime against the environment. Ultimately, we pay for this ourselves when we consume the resulting microplastics.
