The topic of stress and stress management has already been dealt with in ► Chap. 6 and will now be taken up again in the course of therapy. The second part of stress management focuses on the role of thoughts in relation to stressful experiences. Accordingly, the patient is introduced to the role of appraisal of the stressor and own capacity to cope with stress via strategies of guided discovery in the first session of this module. Different ways of coping with stress are discussed and individual stressors are explored in the second session. The third session of the sixth module is devoted to superordinate cognitive schemata that can intensify stressful experiences—so-called stress exacerbators. In the final session of the module, the patient’s repertoire for regenerative stress management and skills for increasing stress resistance are to be expanded by introducing mindfulness-based relaxation strategies.

摘要
