About the Self-Determined Family Planning of Women in Poor Countries and Female Migrants in Rich Countries

This chapter aims to provide an overview of the possibilities and limitations of self-determined family planning. It explains the worldwide distribution of modern contraceptives and the factors that hinder access to contraceptive counseling. Furthermore, it presents the globally available methods of family planning and their regional distribution. Due to the scope of this complex topic, the following chapter cannot claim to be complete. Nevertheless, it provides an overview and thus enables an entry into this essential area of global women’s health.
