Manned Moon Missions - The Men on the Moon

Of the 3.8 billion people who populated the Earth around 1970, 27 had the privilege of truly seeing our home for the first time from a great distance as part of the cosmos. They all belonged to NASA’s manned Moon program. Nine 3-man crews visited our companion between December 1968 and December 1972 with the Apollo capsules. There were two planned stays in lunar orbit, an unplanned circumnavigation of the Moon, which brought the stricken Apollo 13 mission back to Earth, and six successful Moon landings.
