In the Forest, in the Park, on the Hike

  • Andreas Korn-Müller

摘要

Before we get to experimenting and discovering, this chapter first describes the situation of the forests in Germany. The forest is in poor condition and a rethink or “reforestation” is urgently needed. Proposals for global climate rescue by 2050 are already available: Either plant 500 billion new trees or install 11 million new wind turbines. Also learn about new research on the topic of microplastics in the soil and in the air: Some trees are like vacuum cleaners and spider webs act as filters. With the help of tree lichens, you can determine the air quality of your environment. Lichens are fascinating creatures that can be discovered everywhere on hikes, travels, and on vacation. Some of them glow orange-red in UV light. How can you determine the height of trees? Quite simply: With a stick or a self-made mega triangle ruler. Further experiments are the secret of pine cones and the spore print of mushrooms.
