In this chapter, you will learn new things about the green pigment chlorophyll, which is actually much bluer than it appears in leaves. But the yellow and red leaf pigments, which give us the golden autumn, also play an important role, for example as “sunscreen”. I try to explain the big topic of photosynthesis in a clear way and with a simple overview graphic. However, you can also conduct exciting experiments with a self-made and long-lasting green chlorophyll solution: it glows blood red when illuminated with light. It no longer glows red when water is added. And with lighter fluid, you can make the yellow autumn pigments visible.
