Nerve lesions have various causes. Foremost are mechanically induced damages to the nerve through direct injury or compression. The latter are the subjects of this book. However, knowledge of other causes of mononeuropathy is essential, not least to avoid unnecessary surgical procedures or, conversely, to subject them to neurolysis or derotation in the case of fascicle torsions.
